Abstract Sketch

I've been trying to sketch more lately and I find abstract painting/sketching/just messing around with shapes and color to be really relaxing so I do it occasionally. So here's a random abstract sketch I did just messing around/experimenting.

Chasing Ghosts 2009-2013

Redid a piece I did in 2009 for fun. Really interesting to see the difference between now and then.

The guy's name is Kohl and he's a personal character from a story concept that has been kicking around in my head on and off for the last few years. I changed a lot in the new piece but the general concept is pretty much the same. 

The look of the character has also obviously changed throughout the years.

House Concepts

These are some house concepts for a personal project I've been working on. 

The one I chose to go with was also kind of a style experiment for me, 

trying to simplify things, and let shapes speak for themselves without over-rendering everything to death.

Turn and Push

Abracadaniel from Adventure Time. I did this as kind of a not very serious piece just to get used to my cintiq and as a way to relax. I've been focusing a lot on animating and sometimes it's just nice to just work on something still.

Under The Dome

I recently finished Stephen King's Under The Dome 

and thought it would be fun to paint some of the characters as I imagined them.

 I've also been looking at a lot of really incredible movie poster design lately

 and wanted to try making a piece inspired by that sort of aesthetic. 

So, those two concepts came together here.

This was a rough experiment I did over the summer when I was trying out a technique a friend of mine was also experimenting with. Then I proceeded to forget about it until now.
